Summer Reading
Summer is here and so are my books. :-) Right now, I'm in the depths of Bleak House, When Presidents Lie, and Capitalism at the Crossroads. I just finished Zapp!, and I just started Fundamentalism and American Culture (which I'm terribly excited about).
What are you reading?

I've finished The Tipping Point, Freakonomics, Why Men Don't Listen and Women Can't Read Maps, and am working on Life At the Bottom, Our Culture, What's Left of It, The Five Red Herrings, and Between Faith and Criticism. Then here is a bit of reading for the Illinois Bar, which will soon drive out everything else
You are going to review those books, right?
I'm reading several textbooks. . . and the memoir "The Spirit Catches You and You Fall Down," which is NOT about the charismatic movement. . .
Half-way through One Hundred Years of Solitude, started it yesterday. So far lovely. Last week finished How To Be Good (Nick Hornby). Eh. Okay. Has great excerpts, but I think the parts are greater than their sum. Also working through a surprisingly engrossing text on wills and trusts by Shaffer, et al.
Bard, HOW can you read that many books and study for the bar?! For me it was a full time job to study for the Georgia Bar and read one book (Team of Rivals by Doris Kearns Goodwin).
I'm still doing one book at a time. Recently wrapped up The March by E.L. Doctrorow. Reading Mayflower by Nathaniel Philbrick. Next up...Blood and Thunder....and maybe Dave Barry's children's book The Shepherd, The Angel, and Walter the Christmas Miracle Dog. Thinking of buying Faith and Force: A Christian Debate About War - which is a lengthy debate between a Christian Pacifist and a Christian Just War adherent.
Update: One Hundred Years of Solitude is a beautiful book. It has earned a place on my Profound Favorites shelf.
